MRS. BERTELSON

Never believe an Atom, they make up everything!

My name is Karen Bertelson and I am the Elementary Science Lab teacher. PK3-5th grade come in for activities that reinforce the subject matter presented in class. I try to make class fun, hands-on and informative so they will continue to enjoy Science later on in their school career.

I am also the Reading Recovery teacher, working with students in 1st-3rd grades. I pull students that need a little extra help catching up or covering a reading concept that was missed.

I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a K-12 Special Education degree. I also have numerous hours in Math and Science.

I have been married to Dan Bertelson for 32 years and we have six children, all who attended St. Ann's. Sarah, 29, is a financial analyst for a Houston oil company and is a proud Aggie. Brianna, 26, is an engineer for a Midland oil company and graduated from UW, just like her mom and dad. Ben, 24, graduated from the Air Force Academy and is a 1st Lieutenant and pilot currently stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. John David, 22, is a senior at Texas A&M, studying Economics. Hannah, 19, is a sophomore at the University of Wyoming studying Mechanical Engineering and running track. Sam is our youngest and is a junior at Midland High School.

I am the keeper of Science Trivia. Your student sees a new trivia question each day on the white board outside the lab, covering all areas; Scientists, Dinosaurs, Weather, Health, Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy and Bats (always a first grade favorite.)

I hope you can visit the Lab and if you have any questions or ideas, please contact me.
